Happy 2014!

A little belated happy new year to everyone out there in DA land! I’m wishing everyone who visits this page all the very best in 2014 and I hope all your dreams and resolutions for the coming year come true!  For myself, I’m hoping this will be a good year for me here on DA and I have a few plans  that I hope will come to fruition. 

First, I plan to continue all the story projects that I currently have going:  Tracker, Valkyrie, The Blue Vixen, ect.  I hope to finish Blue Vixen by this summer and start another novella.  Still not sure what that will be .  I’ll probably put out a poll later in the year and see what everyone wants to see and then decide.  I have soooo many ideas!

As I said, the Blue Vixen story will continue and I hope to finish sometime this summer.  Right now we are at a pretty dark point in the story.  I don’t really enjoy this part but I think it is necessary to establish the later character and attitude of The Blue Vixen.  Chapter five and part of the following chapter six are going to be devoted to telling that part of the story.  So, if you are not enjoying this gritty part please hang in there.  A short further comment on Blue Vixen.  Just so you know, I have not served in the military, been to Iraq, been a cop, or lived in New York City!  Valery is 100% fictional!   I do a lot of research, which I find to be fun, to set up the background in the story.  An authentic setting and details, to me, is essential in fiction and I find that to be enjoyable in the fiction that I read.  For Blue Vixen, this includes having a picture of the real 70^th Precinct building and a street map of Brooklyn pinned above my computer.  So there you go.  Also, I really appreciate any comments on the scenes I describe that can help me make them more authentic.

A couple of things I’m going to try this year which probably most of you will find boring, so you are warned here first!    I am going to try to make some of  my renders more “artistic” in the sense of technically a little different or unusual.  At the most simple level I will probably do more black and white stuff, which I love,  but I will probably try some other things as well.  I would tell you what they were but I don’t know!   I will be doing more fux magazine covers --I think they are cool.  I will also try to do more straight digital art, and maybe even some traditional drawings.  I used to do that a lot of drawing before life got so busy.   So, if I’m successful, my DA stuff will become even more diverse than it already is.

I plan to introduce at least one new OC soon.  You’ll see her hopefully later this week.   The concept is a retro heroine (not a super) adventurer.  Sort of a Lara Croft and Indiana Jones combined.  More to follow in her introductory render –some details are still being worked out!

Well, that’s what I hope to achieve in the new year.  Not too much different than last year.
