Description
Boeing 314 luxury flying boat bound for Europe. Only twelve of these long range luxury airliners were built. During World War II they were used to transport both President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill across the Atlantic.

I couldn't resist another visit to the really nice flying boat model.

Really Great artwork, but I doubt the flying boat is heading for Europe. Pan Am planes took off from the Marine Terminal at LaGuardia (it still exists because it is a protected Art Deco structure).
I think this particular plane is circling over Manhattan to turn east and land at LaGuardia. This would be he case if the wind were coming from the east (pilot would want to land into the wind). Flying boats did not use New York Harbor.
The Life covers are great, but there are some newer buildings that do not belong to the late 1930s. Also, I do not see the Singer Building, which was still standing at that time.
