It was a little before 7 AM in Germany when Lia rolled out of bed.  She put on some tea and turned on the television.  Times Square was packed, and the focus of the coverage was slowly beginning to shift from the crowd itself to the Toshiba clock and the famous ball drop, which was imminent.  She sat down with her tea and flipped her laptop open.  With a few key punches she was looking at the feed from the security cameras in Donna and Etherea's home.  She skimmed through the feeds until she reached the playroom cameras, and a big grin spread across her face.  Lia and Donna and Etherea were all great friends, but Lia had had it up to here with Donna stealing her picture ideas and Etherea stealing her costumes.  Between the two of them, Lia could barely get anything done with all of her original material being poached virtually as soon as she came up with it.  And besides, they'd yet to pay her for doing all the work installing their home security system.  It was time for a little payback!  Lia grinned from ear to ear as she typed rapidly on her keyboard...

The effiminate host and harridan hostess on MSDNC were trying their best not to turn all their observations of the New Year's festivities into political rants...and failing miserably.  Both they and their rapidly-dwindling audience seemed to breathe an implied sigh of relief as focus shifted from the year almost passed, the city, the crowds, and the weather to the more straightforward drop of the giant, glittering ball that would signify midnight and the arrival of 2017.  Then, all at once, every video screen in Times Square flickered out.  There was a collective gasp from the crowd and the television hosts, followed by immediate speculation from the latter that Russian hacking was involved to create the appearance of a terrorist attack so the incoming President-Elect could immolate the planet in global thermonuclear war.  Then, a moment later, every screen flickered back to life, all of them showing the same feed: two women in lingerie apparently playing some kind of bondage game!  This time the collective gasp was even louder.  "Oh....my..." squeaked the television harpy.

Etherea giggled as Donna nibbled on her neck.  She closed her eyes, nuzzled her face in Donna's silky blonde hair, took a deep breath, and smiled.  Her eyes flickered open and cut briefly to the TV.  The camera was locked on the ball, which was about to drop any second.  The sound was muted so she couldn't hear everyone counting down, nor coud she hear the television hostess.  She squealed, her "Oh....my..." almost in unison with the MSDNC presenter's.  Donna turned her head and looked at the TV for a moment.  Her eyes went saucer wide, and her jaw dropped.  "...GOD!" she gasped, finishing Etherea's exclamation for her.

The ball had dropped by the time Lia closed her laptop--a Cheshire cat grin on her face--but few had noticed it.  All eyes, and cameras, were focused on the billboards ringing Times Square, and especially the Toshiba clock, itself.  Lia picked up her tea, took a sip, and then exclaimed "Happy New Year!" with an impish smile.
