Some good friends from Second Life (SL) encouraged me to join DA and I love it |
In SL I love to explore new things and fantasies that time and circumstance have not allowed me to experience as much as I would like. So you will see postings here of SL friends and adventures. I also, since this is DA, will post some of my attempts at traditional art -- scans of what I have done in the past and recent efforts reflecting my new interests.
Finally, I hope to combine some of traditioanl art interests,SL, and new digital drawing technology and see what I can learn and share.
Most important, I want to have fun and share my interests with new friends
Feel free to contact me here or in SL and share your thoughts, impressions, and views.

Some thoughts on feeding....um feedback.
First off, let me thank everyone who views my page(s), comments, watches or faves! The feedback that I get on the pictures and stories I post here on DA is what motivates me do more! So, if you like what you see and are reading please leave feedback in some form. Believe me it is well appreciated and a very positive effect on how much and what subjects I focus on this page!
Here are some of my thoughts about the various forms of feedback that I get:
Comments are the most personally gratifying form of feedback. That’s because it takes the most effort on the part of the commenter and because its aimed very personally directly at me. As a rule, I try to respond to every single commenter at least once per image. Sometimes we get multiple comments on the same thread and that’s really cool. Also, sometimes we get a nice back and forth going and I really like that too. I have developed what I consider some very nice friendships through consistent exchanges over time through comments and I cherish them. Thank you so much to everyone who comments –please keep it up. If you don’t usually comment, please consider starting!
Faves are the most important feedback in terms of telling me what is good and what is popular (sometimes, often times, not the same thing! ). So faves play a very important role in my management of the work I put up here. I use faves to pick my most popular works and to feature them in my top ten and hall of fame. I tend to repeat the subject matter or themes that get a lot of faves and I also tend to repeat the techniques/styles/formats of the works that get lots of faves. Based on previous faves, I have a pretty good idea before I post something, how popular it will be.
I wish I could thank each person that faves me personally, and I used to do that. However, it is not uncommon lately that I get 50-100 faves in a 24 hour period and its just not possible because of time for me to thank each person that faves anymore. I’m really sorry about that because I really enjoyed visiting the pages of the people who visit me and I miss thanking them personally for each fave.
I like watches because the total number gives me an idea of how overall the page is doing. This number is usually not tied to any particular piece of work. Watchers generally just like the overall style or type of work I post. There are A LOT of watchers and most don’t fave or comment. I do note almost every day who they are. If they are artists I often watch back!
I don’t put a lot of stock in views. Views do not give me much feedback because they do not indicate approval or disapproval, and of course totally anonymous. Some people view by accident. Views are very dependent on what’s going on in the world. Guess what, not many views during the world cup or super bowl!
So there are some of my thoughts about what you think of my page! Just a reminder, tho all feedback is not equal, I LOVE it all. Even the accidental views! And thank you all who take any amount of time to browse around my little virtual art gallery! I love you all!!
More thoughts to follow soon as I get some time over the holidays. Until then, TTFN!
